I know at times I’ve found it hard to stick to my News Year’s resolutions. I found myself curious why we can’t improve our eating habits or lose weight? So I embarked on my journey to become a health coach so I could share with others a couple key components to altering our habits. These are encouragement, support, and accountability, all of which can be provided by a health coach. We are all aware that certain behaviors such as smoking, eating junk/fast food, skipping meals, not exercising, and high stress levels yield negative results. But we are consistently unable to change these behaviors, limiting our opportunity to live a happier and healthier lifestyle.
By using a health coach to help facilitate positive behavioral and lifestyle changes we challenge ourselves to explore our inner values and establish attainable wellness goals. After creating goals, a health couch can help implement small action steps to motivate you and get you moving in the right direction. These steps become crucial in the process because it allows us to enjoy the small successes that ultimately keep us motivated to make healthier choices. By meeting with a health coach on weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis, we are held accountable for our actions and as a result take more responsibility for our behaviors surrounding diet and lifestyle.
Becoming healthier is a journey and having a support structure to help attain our wellness goals is the first step in creating positive habits. Professional athletes who are trying to improve their skills use coaches to monitor their progress, and this same mentality can be beneficial when it comes to our eating habits. Healthy Coaching will assist in creating sustainable behavior changes surrounding diet and lifestyle, and will ultimately improve our health and wellbeing.
